Pastor Raul was born in 1980 in Bissau, Guinea Bissau. He accepted Jesus at age 16 and was baptized that same year. The next year he began his training in how to lead services and how to preach. At first he was only allowed 5 minutes during the Sunday evening services. By 1998 he was actively involved in Evangelism and participated in outreaches to several villages in the Eastern Region of Guinea Bissau.
At age 19 he went to his home village of Sonaco on a volunteer basis where he has established and nourished his congregation. He says that a pastor always teaches so that his people will be able to teach others. Raul has been faithful for 7 years now in a fairly isolated village without any support. He hopes to attend Bible College in the fall of 2006 while continuing to serve his church in Sonaco.
Through these long hard years, Raul has held to Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.”
